What works for Homecoming?

xxxxx
Fall may be more than a half a year away, but it's not too early for Homecoming plans. Andrews University (Berrien Springs, Mich.) has moved its annual parade from Sunday to Friday and is offering $50 stipends to those making floats. At the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, alumni staff are gearing up for the fourth annual "Eagle Eye Medallion Hunt," which introduces campus history and the Alumni Association to students seeking the medal for a $200 prize. It's quickly become Homecoming's most popular event for students. What's working for you? Share your best ideas by clicking on the "comments" link below.

Five years ago the student Homecoming leaders asked administration if they could bring back the concept of student royalty. After nearly 50 years of no Homecoming Queens, we now have a student Homecoming court from which a Student King and Queen are selected. In addition, thanks to a great idea from the students, we also have an Alumni King and Queen. To be eligible, alumni must have celebrated their 50th reunion and be able to participate in several Homecoming activities. The Alumni King and Queen crown the Student King and Queen at the Pep Rally on Friday night. On Saturday, they ride in the parade and are introduced at halftime of the football game. They also attend other activities throughout the weekend. The Alumni King and Queen are selected by the Alumni Association Homecoming Committee from nominations received from staff and alumni. It is great fun for the students and alumni, and a great way to connect these folks a little closer to the University and Alumni Association.
